Psychotherapy is about growing

The desire to grow and move forward in one’s life is a core dimension of what it means to be a person. Human experiences do not always make for a smooth road, and there are times when brokenness, detachment and separation are more prevalent in our lives than a sense of wholeness. At such points there may be strong thoughts and feelings of “being stuck” in signifi cant areas of our lives. In psychotherapy a person has the opportunity to begin looking at his or her life in a deep and respectful way. The therapist’s role is to be there for the client, using knowledge and experience to assist the client in moving through current impasses, so that “stuckness” is replaced by renewed personal direction and purpose. Psychotherapy helps people synthesize their experiences in ways that promote personal growth and a deeper sense of wholeness.

I provide individual psychotherapy for adults and adolescents with general emotional/behavioral concerns. I also offer marital/couples therapy. Depending on the particular circumstances of a case, I might propose family therapy sessions. My style as a psychotherapist is eclectic, in that I rely on utilizing a variety of treatment approaches, choosing those that will be most beneficial to the client. I am very comfortable working with individuals who are seeking to access spiritual resources as part of the therapy process. It is my conviction that regardless of the treatment modalities used, a therapist and client must establish a working therapeutic alliance in order for treatment to be effective.
